This can not be happening...

I was trying to be ahead of schedule, so I starting calling my utility companies last week to begin setting up services.  I had my cable/internet/phone scheduled to be moved 2 days after closing. (Sunday activation). Well, I received a call from my cable company today explaining that service is unavailable at my new home at this time. They hope to have that end of my community wired by the end of the year. Of course my sales rep, and PM are blaming the cable company. My frustration is I had my house wired for cable and opted not have any traditional phone wiring. That would have been an optimal time to say hey we aren't sure or we need to make sure cable is an option.

As of now the cable company is saying it could be a minimum of 60 days. Which reminds me, the plan I chose with Guardian requires a home phone... Hmmmm. Not very happy about this!

Stay tuned, still have some more calls to make for this issue.

  1. Oh no, sorry to hear about that. Hopefully they can speed things up! Can you get services through a local phone company? Maybe they won't charge to install a line into your house? Fingers crossed for a quick resolution, I am not sure I could go 60 days with no internet!

  2. No way I would not take that sitting down call your pm boss have them hire a cable subcontractor to run underground line if need be !!! Plus the alarm thing!! No way I would not stop till someone handles it ! Good luck

  3. Thanks Robert and Becky, I am planning to push this as far as need be. One other thing, I work from home almost every day. While I do have an office, I'm blessed I don't have to drive in daily.

  4. As far as I'm concerned, a cable connection is just as essential as any public utility. In your case, it provides several essential services - TV, internet, phone and security. I would expect Ryan Homes to resolve this problem with the same urgency as they would if you had no running water.

  5. I agree!!

This should have been addressed by Ryan WAY before now. And I also stand with SCJ in that Ryan needs to fix this ASAP. It is way too essential! GL! Keep us posted1

  9. Due to their lack of urgency, they might have lost a very good customer. Since I have now chosen satellite and dsl...their lost.

Do you have a blog @medsurg05?
